Hyundai Comes Out Ahead in April

Described as a "transitional month into the peak selling season"1 by Hyundai exec, Dave Zuchowski, April has brought about some pretty impressive sales gains for South Korean automaker, Hyundai. In fact, Hyundai's April sales results have been totaled and equal a remarkable 63,315 units for the month and, subsequently, the best-ever April to date.

Success for April can be primarily credited to a St. Catherines area favorite: the Hyundai Elantra which contributed 24,445 of the 63,315 units and marked a 45 percent increase over last year, at this time.

The award-wining, new Hyundai Santa Fe also did its part with 6,940 units sold in April, which quite impressive for the highly-competitive crossover segment of which the Santa Fe is a part.

Another new Hyundai superstar is the new Sonata Hybrid which sold 16,077 units and of which, John Krafcik, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor America says, "Our new Sonata Hybrid has been a focus model for us though, and here we've been able to support a 40 percent year-over-year sales increase with additional production and high consumer interest in our upgraded hybrid powertrain with its industry-leading Lifetime Hybrid Battery Warranty."2

Other April sales statistics for new Hyundai models include:

  • The Hyundai Accent with 4,730 units sold
  • The Hyundai Tucson sold 3,733 units
  • And, the Hyundai Veloster sold 3,120
